Introduction

Alloy C-2000 (UNS N06200) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with the addition of copper, offering exceptional resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments. This alloy is particularly well-suited for applications in chemical processing, pollution control, and other industries where resistance to harsh chemicals is required.

Chemical Composition

The chemical composition of Alloy C-2000 is as follows:

  • Nickel (Ni): 59% minimum
  • Chromium (Cr): 22-24%
  • Molybdenum (Mo): 15-17%
  • Copper (Cu): 1.3-1.9%
  • Iron (Fe): 3% maximum
  • Carbon (C): 0.01% maximum
  • Manganese (Mn): 0.50% maximum
  • Silicon (Si): 0.08% maximum

Alloy C-2000 exhibits the following physical properties:

  • Density: 8.50 g/cm³ (0.307 lb/in³)
  • Melting Range: 1330-1380°C (2426-2516°F)
  • Specific Heat: 427 J/kg·K (0.102 BTU/lb·°F)
  • Thermal Conductivity: 11.1 W/m·K (77 BTU·in/hr·ft²·°F)
  • Electrical Resistivity: 1.22 μΩ·m

Mechanical Properties

The typical mechanical properties of Alloy C-2000 are:

  • Tensile Strength: 760 MPa (110 ksi)
  • Yield Strength (0.2% offset): 365 MPa (53 ksi)
  • Elongation: 50%
  • Hardness: 90 HRB

Corrosion Resistance

Alloy C-2000 offers outstanding resistance to:

  • Oxidizing and reducing environments
  • Chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking

The addition of copper enhances its resistance to sulfuric acid and other reducing chemicals.
